Cricket!!!

Just the other morning hubby and I were driving in Corsica, early in the morning and in front of us on the road we witnessed the cutest site...

There was this Sparrow hopping (one jump at a time) and in front of it was a cricket doing the same. It was so funny, and yet interesting to watch for obviously the bird was trying to catch it's breakfast. I've just never been fortunate enough to watch it.

They (the wild animals and birds) really do have to work for their food. And you should have seen the determination set forth here.

It's amazing what you see when you take the time to really look. I spend lots of time in my yard or on my porch watching the rabbits, birds, etc.

I'm fortunate enought to have a small Purple Martin colony :). The other day I watched a Male Purple Martin fly in with a dragonfly. The Female was in the house with her babies & she flew out, grabbed the dragonfly from him in mid-air, turned right around & went back in with out any effort. We've also been able to witness first flight from a few of the babies this year. I even had to rescue one the other day, as it got it's toe nail stuck on the balcony & couldn't get free. It just sat there so calm & let me pick it up, never fussed or tried to get free from my hand.

Robin's will hop thru the grass turning their heads left, then right. They listen for Earthworms. If you keep watching pretty soon they grab one & start yanking it out of the ground.

I just love watching nature :).
