Spring is upon us finally :). We have had a few nice sunny days in the upper 50's to low 60's, with nights still in the 30's, but it's warming up. The Harley is on the road again. Huz is in heaven, LOL.

My boss took in a 3 year old male German Shepard. The owners had a baby, now 1 year old, & the dog keeps knocking the kid over. Zeus doesn't know his own strength, but he's a real nice dog. Anyone can walk right up to him & pet him. We've had him at the office/job trailor since Monday. He had to make a 4 hour trip, from Philadelphia, in a truck to get here. He's spent his whole life in an apartment, barely getting outside. He's in heaven. Loves laying in the sun. At night he stays in a corral in the office. He has infection in both ears, bad, so the boss & I are giving him meds & treating his ears. A neighbor near my work is a cop who has police dogs & put Zeus thru some tests today to see if he'd make a police dog. He told us he has potental, he's going to work with him some more tomorrow, so we're hoping he'll soon have a new owner who'll keep him the rest of his life & he just might end up being a police dog. I won't tell you what the original owners wanted my boss to do with him....GRRRR!!!.....my boss refused their request & took the dog so he could find it a good home.

I'm watching the skies for the return of the Purple Martins. I have a friend gathering pine needles for me. I'm gonna do some pre-nest building for them this year. I also learned why we lost so many babies last year....MITES!! I located a natural mite killer, non-pesticide, that will take care of the critters.

At my work, which is in the country only 2 miles from my house, I get to see lots of wild birds daily that we don't see in town. There's plenty of thick woods all around my work place. There's a Red Tail Hawk that makes it's rounds each day, flocks of Blue Jays, Chickadees, Woodpeckers, Squirrels & Bears too (I missed seeing a Momma bear & her 2 cubs just 2 weeks ago walk right across the end of the lot & head up the hill into the woods). Today I kept hearing a sound I thought was young wild turkeys. Come to find out if was frogs, LOL. There's a pair of Mallard Ducks that visit every few days. I'm hoping they decide to nest in the pond that's on the property. Then I'll get to see the babies :).

My Lily-of-the-Valley are showing sings of popping out of the ground, the Honeysuckle Vine is sprouting & so are my the roses. We won't see flowers until mid/late May tho.

Huz is gonna plant a small garden this year, so the birds will get some fresh veggies right from our garden.

JaJaBinks is growing in new leg feathers. It'll be a few more weeks before they're all the way in tho, so the collar stays on. As I preen her leg feathers she goes into ...ummmm...horney mode making her weird wheezing sounds, LOL. She now THINKS she has to eat/share my supper every night & most mornings breakfast too. How do you spell SPOILED...LOL.

I'm working full time now, so the birds will not get to be outside as much this summer. Oh I'm thinking of getting a hanging playgym, not too big, for the aviary. I want some kind of hard dragonwood or java wood so it'll last. Do any of you know where I can get this? I had a Orb, but Jasmine, my U2, decided last summer to destroy it.

OK I guess I rambled enough, LOL.

Oh, your garden just sounds breath taking Toy. Hey, have you tried exotic wood dreams? http://exoticwooddreams.com/ They sell hanging wood gyms, pricey but boy are they nice! Maybe they will at least give you some ideas. When you can, I'd love to see photos of the garden and the Purple Martins!
