I took my two macaws to the vet last week. They were diagnosed with having yeast problems. The vet (who is the bird vet for the Cleveland Zoo) recommended putting in 1tsp of organic apple cider vinegar to every 8 oz of water. I thought that they would hate it but much to my suprise they absolutely LOVE IT. When I give them water at night they head right for the dish and start drinking it down. I don't know if the apple cider vinegar has some nutrient that they crave but they seem to be more active and better hydrated. This will also kill the yeast since yeast cannot live in a acidic pH. This is a great preventative even if you want to do it once a week per month.
WOW really?? I am going to try it, maybe that is what she needs to get her to start eating again. I didn't realize that they could even have it. I bet it is great for their digestion just like people. Thanks for the tip I will take anything I can get. My baby is a picky picky eater and I am having trouble getting her to eat.
