I just wanted to thank Angie and this wonderful site for two major ideas I've been able to incorporate into the daily life of my fids. Since I last logged on (over a year ago), our flock of two Pacific Parrotlets has expanded to include Kiwi (a male Hahns Macaw who is 1 1/2 yrs. old), and the adoptions from The Gabriel Foundation of Gracie (A cherry-headed conure), Berta (Nanday), Baccha (Blue Crowned), Billy (Gold Capped), Stinker (Gold Capped) and fostered our beautiful Petey (38 yr. old wild-caught handicapped Gold Capped, who passed away earlier this week from old age- we are still struggling from his passing as he touched our lives by his strength of character and desire for life). We've become quite the flock and noise, action, and lots of clean up are what makes up our daily life. But I wanted to mention two hugely important concepts I learned through this site that have helped me to enrich the lives of my fids: That of the sleep area (we have separate sleeping crates for our guys (some share their sleeping quarters), and we have a bird room. Since the majority of our guys are adopted, we work on teaching them how to play and get out of the perseverative-type behaviors (constant screaming, pacing back and forth, etc.). We are all coming along and are learning more every day. Thank you for the great information you provide here. I would love it if some of you would check out the video of my bird room on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UrYhDQXluo
On my home page, I have 2 other videos of the fids. Note: On this video you will also see a black-capped conure we were adopting, but she truly was overwhelmed in the noisy and active Aratinga environment. TGF is looking for another home for her. She is a beautiful little bird, but this was not the right environment for her needs .
My next step is to get travel crates going with them that will become permanent fixtures of my car, as well as building an outdoor aviary/flight area for them. Thanks for letting me share!

Well, I'm obviously learning about how to post on here. I didn't mean to make the sad face as the Message Icon of my post! Sorry about that!
