Hi everyone,
I went to my Health food store over the weekend to get all my beans for sprouting and some other stuff and while I was there picked up some cereals. I don't know if any of you have tried the Bob's Red Mill Hot Cereal. It's a 8 Grain cereal without wheat and has oats, oat bran, brown rice, corn, soybeans, millet, barley, sunflower seeds and flaxseed. It came in a l lb. 11 oz. bag for $3.89 which I thought was extremely reasonably for a good food for our birds to eat and then I bought Quinoa Flakes hot cereal and my baby macaw went crazy over it. I cooked it with cinnamon, raisins, mashed banana and grated some mixed nuts and she was in up to her nose. Since she's cutting down on her formula I wanted to make sure she's getting something good to replace her formula with and nutritious to begin eating for breakfasts'. It seemed to be a big hit with her. I had bought the Quinoa pastas but didn't know that there was a cereal out so maybe if any of you want to try it you can get it at your health food store and give it a whirl. There were so many other healthy cereals out also but I thought I'd try these 2 to begin with. I'm wondering if my african greys and eclectus' will like it also? hmmmm will try them on it and see. Just thought I would pass this along since Angie brought up how good the Quinoa is for our macaws. I'm also feeding wheatgrass to the fids, just cut some today. Has anyone had any luck with this? Do any of you use it as a daily diet? It sure looked good and healthy for them. Well got the sprouts going and its feeding time again for the little one so off I go. Have a great day.
Blessings,

Rhonda

Rhonda,
That all sounds very good! I give Scarlet (Eclectus) one of those small fresh potted Wheatgrass and she does her own trimming! I tried this with the Macaws but they grabbed the whole thing and shook it loose from the dirt and pot!
