Hi everybirdie,
I'm typing fast because I'm sooooo busy.... here goes....
Well, we are ALMOST there. We just got done with stage one of the three stage remodel of our house.
1. flooring (talk about a HUGE mess) 2. new kitchen 3. new appliances 4. downstairs bathroom upgrade
Next (part two) another contractor comes in to paint and that will be a lot of work. Our ceilings are about 25 feet high in some areas so needless today there will be heavy scaffolding in the house. Thank goodness the birds will be safe in their own room during the painting of the inside of the house.
I was hoping to have part two done by Jan. but it looks like it will be the second week of Jan. instead. That's OK because painting will require us to remove everything from each room and closet. Yikes will that be work.
Part three will not happen until much later (upstairs bathrooms & finally new carpet.
Our house isn't old but it really needed a face-lift. It was either that or build a new house... THAT isn't happening! NO WAY!!
Meanwhile, let's get to the important stuff. The bird's room. Maury, our wonderful contractor, tore out that tacky cabinet and sink that used to be in there and replaced it with a new black sink and granite counter top. This all came from our "old" kitchen. I'm so glad we got a chance to put it to good use. AND, even Samson can't destroy granite!!!
It looks stunning! The problem is that it matches nothing in the room. :( The rest of the room looks really bad now. LOL. Isn't that always the case?
After seeing Natalie's bird room we decided to go ahead and have the bird room repainted ... with a more upscale look instead of the whimsical jungle I painted myself. LOL. I am working on putting Natalie's photos on our website. By the way, she and her hubby are com'n to 'Vegas next month and she is going to visit our flock!!! I can't wait. BIRD PARTY!! Hmmmm, maybe I'll have to put them to work in the birdie room.
We just love having bird friends visit. ALL of you are always welcome. Hmmmm, I'm starting to sound more and more like Noelle. LOL
Moving on here... It's great to have the outdoor aviary because that's where the boys are right now. Although it's up, we still have to have the concrete slab poured so it's somewhat temporary. I don't have it all set up like I plan to since it will need to be moved etc.
OK, I'm trying to write fast because I have so much work to do. Scarlet is upstairs in my office with the dogs and the Macaws are yelling because they are a bit cold. Geeeez it's ONLY 60 degrees or so. They are such desert dwellers ... they're use to that 'Vegas heat.
I'll keep you all posted on everything and I'll try and take photos when I can. Gotta run ... the boys are calling me. PLUS ... found out that I may be moving into my new office next month. Oh boy ... my plate is SO full!!!

Angie that is awesome! I can't relate to the remodeling but know tons of people whom could.
I/We are very excited about our visit as well. I love decorating. Hubby and I just had this conversation this am. I wanted to design a new house decor in spring but he isn't up for it. He said I can still draw and paint a mural on our living room ceiling though. That will keep me busy for quite awhile but I'm going to do it.
Anyhow back to the subject - Thanks Angie for the compliments but as I've shared before your room was my actual inspiration. And I can't wait to see how you design the boy's room this time around.
Also we again can't wait to visit. See you soon!

In case any of you have missed this... here is what we are talking about. http://catalog.hsn.com/shop-134/hm/182/hp!sf.htm

60 degrees??? Man that's a heat wave, LOL. It's to drop into the single digits here this week. BRRR! Our furnace is pratically running non-stop just trying to keep the house at 72 degrees. We have ice on the sidewalks & the fence gate was froze shut today. Had to beat the ice off it to get the darn thing open. Weather reports say we're 8-9 degrees below normal temps & it's only mid December!! We have 10 inches of snow on the ground from the storm a few days ago. Have another storm coming Thursday/Friday. This is the time of year I wish I lived in the deep south, LOL.
Angie I do NOT envy you all that work & mess, LOL. I'm sure it'll be beautiful once it's all done & the last of the mess cleaned up.

Angie I actually bought the Tatouge on ebay. I bought some sets and some singles. I felt it worked out cheaper that way!
Oh how exciting!
On another note you mentioned about perhaps joining Noelle in Peru next year. I must hear more. I've been reading ALOT on ECO tours and am dying to go on one.

Hi Jake and a huge birdie welcome to you!! Thank you so much for such kind words about our website. I am working hard to bring new ideas and articles on line each day. If you visited our sprouting page on the website, you would have to click on the link to get to the photo-step-by-step guide. Here is the direct link. You will find a list (and photos) of everything I sprout. :) Again, Welcome!!!

Hi Jake, I'm Rhonda and have a few fids myself. I'm raising 2 baby macaws right now, have 2 Vos eclectus', 2 african greys, and 2 blue black masked love birds and soon to have a baby green wing macaw. You were asking about the sprouting mix. Go to your local Health food store and you can find all the legumes and seeds you need to do your sprouting with. Your babies will love you for it. I feed it every morning to my guys and they love it and it's so good for them. It really is no problem to do at all like Angie has with the instructions on the website and you can get the GSE at the Health food store also. I use that instead of the bleach. I've used it for years on loads of things. I hope this helped some. Beak smacks from the fids,
Rhonda |
