Hi!

I live with a little cockatoo hen, and am curious/interested to find out if there are other fellow 'Too enthusiasts out there. I appreciate hearing stories & sharing them, as well as notes for comparisons & learning on cockatoos.

Shalom, a 5 y/o Citron hen. Turning 6 on May 16th.

Look forward to meet everyone and their birds, from chickens to parrots!

I have an umbrella cockatoo named Sugar. She is my baby and will allow hubby to hold her but absolutly noone else can touch her without being bitten.
Toos are different from most other birds in that they are easily upset to the point of plucking and self mutilation. There are probably more toos than any other bird in rescues because they are difficult, needy birds and it takes a special person with lots of time to spare for them.
As babies they are adorable and of course there are many well adjusted adults but far too many end up in rescues or passed from one home to another because of their needs.
Having said that if you have what they need and are willing to give that much of your time, then they are very loving birds.
I don't mean to discourage you it's just that a too can be a hand full. Good luck and remember to take your time and build trust between the two of you.You have to earn their trust !

Hi there,
happy belated birthday to Shalom!

Have had a few rough months so haven't been on much either.
I have a 5 year old female Goffin's cockatoo. Currently on haliperidol due to plucking issues.
Then there is Kito, my 4 year old Blue Crown Conure; Spikey, male normal grey Cockatiel (6 years old); Scoobie, male normal grey Cockatiel (3 years old); Doobie, female lovebird ( ca. 22 years old); and Tequila, male Military Macaw (2 years on June 12). Also have two dogs and a hubby.
I'll try to post more.....

Hi Rei. The board gets pretty slow at times with summer on us.

Shalom is a beauty :).

I'm not on allot anymore due to a messed up back & neck....been doctor bouncing allot & hopefully will have surgery sometime this year. I have herniations/nerve compression that's caused nerve & muscle damage to arms & legs.

Jasmine U2 is still phobic. Still chews off her wing & tail feathers.

Jengo CAG gets all hormonal & nips her chest & neck feathers off.

JaJaBinks B&G Macaw...now if all parrots were like her none of us would be here, LOL. She just goes with the flow & is so GOOD most of the time.

We've got the aviary up again & they've been out a few times. Weather isn't always warm enough yet to put them out everyday tho. They LOVE it outside in the aviary. Best money you can ever spend!

Take care,
Toy

Life is too short to sweat the small stuff.

Oh Rei!

What a pretty little Citron! They are so stinkin' cute. :)

Although not always a popular idea because of the dust, I do have Cockatoos in addition to my Macaws and Eclectus. Tallulah is my U2 girl and Quigley is my MM2 boy.

I find my MM2's personality is similar to the C2 personality I've read about. He is a cautious fella. Tullah will just throw herself at you. Quigs needs to be romanced, lol. He is also slow to warm up to new objects, but he gets there with a little coaching.
